FLYING PENGUINS? & MORE FOR KIDS!
Penguins are birds which only use their wings for swimming. Because of the shape of their bodies they can swim at high speeds. They are good divers and swimmers. When in the water at times they will take naps. Read more at Teach Children about Penguins!
Can Penguins Fly?
They seem to have little wings at the sides of their bodies and scientists think they used to fly eons ago. Apparently penguins, over thousands of years, had to choose between good wings or good flippers which they needed for fishing, and they picked good flippers. Still, it would be nice if they could still fly so they could get away from the leopard seals who eat them for dinner!

FABULOUSLY FUNNY PENGUINS!
Like us, penguins kiss their babies a lot!
Their love and affection for their young is evident.
Penguins, like humans, love to gather with friends and family to have
fun and play. Hanging around with their family gives them particular joy.
Penguins and humans have a whole lot in common!
It is nicer to totally honest, but lazy souls can certainly lose their integrity!

Penguins are certainly a happy lot! They rarely get discouraged and
almost never give up on their goals! Having fun along the daily journey seems natural.
Sometimes people forget that!
Sometimes people forget that!
Penguins slip, trip, fall, fail and just get right back up and start again.
NEVER GIVE UP! That is the penguin motto!
NEVER GIVE UP! That is the penguin motto!
Penguins talk, sing, shout and chatter a lot to each other, just like humans!
Communication is at the heart of
their relationships with each
other.

Penguins cannot live without ice! What is happening at the South Pole?
During the winter, the top layer of the ocean near the North Pole freezes solid. Every summer some of this ice melts. But not all of it melts. Some of the ice is so thick it stays frozen all the time, even throughout the summer. However, since 1979, when Earth-observing satellites began watching, the ice remaining at the end of summer has been getting smaller and smaller. At the end of summer 2009, the ice was only two-thirds as large as at the end of the summer of 1979. In August 2012, is was the smallest on record.

MEET MR. KRILL - VOICE OF BRAD PITT
KRILL EXPLAINED - LOOK FOR OUR BLOG POST!
Antarctica's great Southern Ocean is the last pristine ocean wilderness left on Earth. This year leaders from 25 countries have an opportunity to create the world's largest marine sanctuaries around Antarctica. The proposals are in front of them, the science has been done, all they need to do is say YES. Tell our leaders to make the right decision when they meet this year and protect these waters for future generations.
